Dr. Marla Klein MD has played a role in the development of BOTOX® becoming what is is today. She started using Botox® in 1996 and was one of the thought-leaders in the development of its uses, when she participated in the early Allergan National Educational Faculty of physicians training other physicians. She personally trains her own nurses.
BOTOX®, Dysport® , Xeomin® and DAXXIFY® are the trade names for pharmaceutical botulinum toxins also called neuromodulators. These treatments can help relax the muscles that contribute to the formation of wrinkles. BOTOX® is made by the Allergan company, Dysport® is made by Galderma, and Xeomin® is made by Merz. DAXXIFY® (also referred to as Daxi) is made by Revance Aesthetics.
At Klein Dermatology & Associates, BOTOX® is our most used product in the treatment of wrinkles due muscular movement, for the past 25 years. Ask me about the subtle differences between the products when you're in for a consultation.
There is not a specific age when someone should start getting neuromodulators, but when the frown lines or crow's feet start to remain after the expression has stopped, that is a good indicator that it is time. Preventing the signs of aging starting at an early age is very important.
Botulinum toxins work by blocking acetylcholine receptors. If you want more of the basic science, just ask us.
BOTOX® is not a one size fits all procedure, in terms of the number of units used and placement of the injections. It can take years for an injector to become skilled. Dr. Marla Klein has been injecting BOTOX® since 1997. We recommend you schedule a consultation and let Dr. Klein or one of her well-trained medical team members create your personalized treatment plan.
On this website and by social media we let patients know when our special days of $12/unit are. We call it the BOTOX® Bonanza day. Prices for BOTOX® treatments can range from $300 - $1200. Daxxify was approved in September 2022 and some patients report it lasts longer.
Hyperhidrosis is also called excessive sweating. BOTOX® to the axilla area (armpits) has become a more common procedure for people who suffer from hyperhidrosis. Insurance sometimes will cover this, but most often not. We accept most Blue Cross, Pacific Source, and Providence plans. We are willing to check on those plans to see if this would be a covered service for you. Treatments may cost $1200 - $2000.
Many people suffer from tension headaches and migraine headaches.
Dr. Marla Klein has been helping people with their headaches by injecting BOTOX® since the year 2000. Some insurance companies will cover this treatment, but there is sometimes a long prior authorization process. Some people opt to self-pay for these treatments because the treatment is very effective. For those with insurances that we accept, we will help with the prior authorization process.
There are loyalty programs by both Allergan and Galderma that help to offset some of the expense of injectable procedures. The KDA staff is very well-trained at helping patients to navigate through the programs and receive the reward points from treatments that they are eligible for.
For each program, there is an app that you can put on your phone.
A treatment option that has gotten a lot of social media attention is the AquaGold® treatment.
We create a special recipe of BOTOX®, HA filler, and saline then use the gold plated single-use AquaGold® device to deliver micro-doses all over the face. It helps hydrate the skin and smooth it. It is viewed more as a special event treatment in office by Dr. Klein. Please come in for a consultation to find out what your best treatment options will be.
