Ellacor consultations
Dr. Marla Klein MD has done more than 130 Ellacor procedures on face and neck. We are in the TOP 5 practices in the world, and with only 250 Ellacor machines currently made, that means Dr. Klein is more experienced than 97% other physicians or providers in the Ellacor procedure.
Our Ellacor treatments now are very comfortable with simply a topical and injected local anesthetic process, using safe amounts of lidocaine. Nerve blocks are not necessary.
Ellacor improvements are incremental - it takes 2 or 3 treatments to obtain the best results. Each procedure removes 5-7% of the skin on the lower face, but some patients need more skin removed than others do.

Wrinkle Relaxers ~ Which one is best for you? Time to change?
BOTOX is the original neurotoxin/neuromodulator/muscle relaxer/wrinkle softener/botulism toxin treatment. It is made by Allergan, who is now owned by AbbVie. Since the 2002 cosmetic use approval of BOTOX, it is used for many things, but at KDA we use BOTOX for aesthetic use, migraines and hyperhidrosis.
Several competitors have come out in the last 20 years: Dysport, Xeomin, Jeuveau and as of 2022, Daxxify. Daxxify or "Daxi" is made by the Revance, an American company. Revance also makes some great HA fillers: Redensity, RHA2, RHA3 and RHA4.
We've been using Daxi a little over a year. My opinion (Dr. Klein here) is that Daxi is safe, and reliable and likely a better value for most patients. The company was a little aggressive stating it lasts 6-9 months, and I was unwilling to tell my patients that until I saw it for myself.
What we have seen at KDA is that Daxi's duration is at least equal and lasts possibly twice as long as BOTOX does in most of our patients. I got 5 months out of mine. We've seen 2.5 - 7 months so far. Not everyone gets 3 months out of BOTOX for that matter. The 2.5 month Daxi patient was thrilled because she felt like she got less than a month from BOTOX treatments.
We've also learned using Daxi is not as simple as using the same amount or twice the amount of units for the best aesthetic effect. Daxi takes more units than Botox. We do typically follow the Daxi guideline and use 40 units in the glabella for most patients. Typically we are seeing better results in hard to treat frown/glabella areas, smoother foreheads, and smoother Crow's feet.
